Chihuahuan Ravens have been seen regularly along Route 100 toward South Padre Island, and most recently off 510 in Laguna Vista. They were nesting off Route 100 not so long ago. Chuck Lorenz got these interesting photos of one who had found an egg and put some effort into cracking it properly. Chucks story: There have been 3-4 Chihuahuan Ravens on 510 near the SPI golf course the past month. This one wanted to not lose any of his stolen meal and decided not to crack the egg while up on the wire. It went to the road and then broke it open. The road was hot enough that it would have cooked. Might be it wanted it that way! Come to the RGV Birding Festival in November, and you just might see this very same raven.
