Chike Iwuagwu I intended taking time off from social media to prepare for an exam but. Reading this and preparing to respond to my friend CY Njoku on the above subject matter , I am forced to attempt to make some clarification . I will start by asking why you think that Chief Ikedi is the best that PDP can field in an election with a sitting governor who is corrupt but yet very popular with the grass root .? Secondly , I make quick to correct the erroneous postulation by Ohakims supporters that he lost election because of the lies peddled about flogging a priest . Thats a cheap way of explaining the mans loss . Imo Catholics account for only 20% of the states population and couldnt have been the chief reason why he lost . Lets remember he was an incumbent with police , army and federal might at his disposition . I did not include the power of his office . In raw election engineering and management, an incumbent is given 10 points ahead of whoever is competing with him . Imo people are desirous of the Mbakwe five star performance in office ever since the man left office in 1983 .His standard has remained the measuring tape for all our governors . Unfortunately, chief Ikedi had no star project but few a few minor ones to show the people for his four years . At the Cathedral debate , he had few completed projects to brandish to the people which led Rochas into promising to fix the state in four years because thats the desires of the people. I give it to Ikedi that his few projects got quality but yet he could have done more quality work if he wanted to . The poor revenue allocation Ikedi is blaming , is not an excuse for not performing . IMO had always had poor allocation . Mbakwe faced it and still came out ahead of other governors with better allocations . Achike faced it hence he led the struggle for joint allocation with local government and got that in his second tenure . Equally , the global economic melt down was in late 08&09 by 2010 the oil market bounced back so what happened in 07 when he took office , 2010 and 2011 ? . Ohakim like Achike and Rochas administered the LGAs by proxy and did same thing Rochas is doing with LGA allocation. He only held LGA election after nearly two and half years in office so what did he do with the LGA allocation ? . Clean and green which was the mantra of his administration was a good project but its execution was poor , mean and cruel to the people especially in Owerri which is the political hot spot of the state and that made him most unpopular with the every day people hence he lost . Every Imolite know that Ohakims 10,000 jobs was a flake . Come to think of it a serious government wont be increasing its work force at the eve of his departure from office . When was the election and when did he approve the employment of the hired people ? . To make the matter worse , he has openings for 10,000 jobs and they collected money from over 100,000 Imo unemployed people . That was not a youth oriented thing when that registration could have been free . I really do not intend to delve into the merits of that job creation because as an economist he knows that only economic growth creates the opening for employment. Anything on contrary is just growing a work force without without a supporting economy hence an increase in the state over head monthly wage bills . To me , thats bad economics and the way not run a state and our people know this hence Rochas promised at the debate to build industries but instead of building , he is shutting down the few we have . Security was at its worst during Ohakims regime . That is not to suggest that the menace is over but however it was worst under Ohakim that US embassy listed Imo as one of the most dangerous states in the country and warned its citizens that their safety was never guaranteedany where in Imo . IMO people were really frustrated in many ways under Ohakim so he was voted out because his report card written by the people was less than average. The same faith awaits Rochas because he too has failed but the big question is , who do we replace Rochas with , and I say use Ike C Ibe the youth with the knowledge, sincerity , zeal , honesty and above all , a workable blue print to change Imo Edited · Like ·
