Chikungunya (Chicken-gunyah): The name of this disease alone is scary. The vector delivering the infectious bite is equally scary sounding - Aedes aegypti. This tiny, tiger-striped mosquito bites during the day, too. Nobody wants this disease, bad news. All that scary stuff needs to be put in perspective, though. More Californians got sick from swimming polluted water this year already than US citizens who got chikungunya in the last 5 years anywhere in the US (no cases of people CATCHING it here, according to CDC). Water scarcity should help control other vector borne diseases, too. So save yourself and loved ones from chikungunya and replace that pool or fountain with a rain garden.
