Child Abuser is released early from prison The father of Jay J Bolvin is out of prison early BUFFALO, NY - Jeremy Bolvin, who was imprisoned for severely beating his son Jay-J Bolvin, was released from prison Monday, according to the New York State Department of Corrections website. The great-uncle of Jay-J says the family also received an automated voice notification that Bolvin is free. Kevin Retzer, who has since become one of Jay Js guardians, says Jeremy Bolvin of North Tonawanda is getting out on good behavior after serving two-thirds of his four-year prison sentence. Hes getting out on good behavior, Jay J will never be released from his sentence for good behavior. Its unconscionable to me that they did it, Retzer said. Retzer says the family learned an administrative panel within the prison system decided to release Bolvin early. New York State Senator Tim Kennedy told 2 On Your Sides Claudine Ewing, that he has been in touch with the head of the NYS Corrections and he was assured that this case will be reviewed. We have to change the system, he said. Jay-J has suffered from a seizure disorder and other developmental problems because of the violent shaking and abuse from his father. His suffering prompted Retzer and other family members to push for and see approval of Jay Js Law as it is known. It requires prosecutors and judges to take a record of prior abuse into account when prosecuting child abuse cases. It did not apply in the case of Jeremy Bolvin because he was convicted before passage of the law. He had been previously convicted for beating another child. Retzer publicly announced on Saturday at a forum on Child Protective Services in New York that Bolvin was getting out of prison. Theres been way too many children here locally and across the state and across the nation that have died at the hands of abusers, and we need to make sure that our system is set up to hold those users accountable according to Kennedy. Bolvin is expected to return to North Tonawanda and remain on parole through August 2015. wgrz/story/news/crime/2014/04/19/erie-county-cps-forum/7914887/
