Reasonable suspicion is a very low standard, according to an attorney interviewed. But at that very low standard, medical staff are required by law to call in their concerns. Which might work if case workers recognized that its a low standard, and only intervened in families after researching to see which cases actually merit further investigation. But that is not always the case. Reasonable suspicion might be okay for the initial phone call, but is it enough to take a child? To put a child in foster care and start making medical decisions for the child? Shouldnt someone at some point have to show more than reasonable suspicion to destroy a family?
