Children in need week is 10-14th november this year, and money raised by HCCS will be going to UVHAA, a South African charity which aims to improve the quality of life for people, especially children, affected and infected by HIV and AIDS. In february I was lucky enough to be one of the students from our school that visited South Africa. Not only did we get to see what an amazing country it is, but also the massive difference that UVHAA makes to peoples lives. They give life saving food packages to people in need, set up creches so that children who have been affected by aids have a safe place to go and help women to find a way to earn their own money for example, by creating and selling fabric artwork. As a school we are trying to raise £6000 to donate to UVHAA which will be used to build a much needed new creche. During children in need week a number of things will be happening to try and raise as much as we can including a cake sale, guess how many sweets in the hamper, non-uniform day, south african beadwork selling and a staff vs sixth form netball match. Every single penny that you are able to donate to this charity will help to change the lives of children that have next to nothing, but are grateful for everything.
