Children´s and Young People´s Rights: In almost all developing - TopicsExpress

Children´s and Young People´s Rights: In almost all developing countries, children and young people make up the majority of the population -- up to 70 per cent in some cases. The Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted in 1989 sets out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of girls and boys until they reach the age of 18. The rights of young people are violated in many different ways around the world. Implementing all childrens rights on a global scale therefore represents an enormous challenge. If children are to shape their future, we must all strive to ensure that they are aware of their rights and that these rights are observed, protected and safeguarded. German human rights-based development policy is designed to provide effective, sustainable support for partner countries to implement the rights of children and young people. The clip shows the wide range of fields in development-related priority areas where action is needed on childrens rights and highlights the direct associations with chil-drens rights. As well as providing information, the clip is also a call for us all to contribute more strongly to the implementation of childrens rights.
