Children suffer twice the risk of contracting asthma and are much more likely to develop multiple mental health problems if they live in a cold home. There are 2.2 million such children in the UK and the problem is getting worse. One of the most prestigious economics modelling groups in the country have just completed a report for the Energy Bill Revolution which shows that not only can the government fix this problem by insulating homes, but with tax returns they can actually make money doing it. 10,000 people will die this winter due to living in cold unhealthy homes. This is an unfortunate but annually repeated outcome of the old and poorly insulated housing stock in the UK.
