Childrens Fitness Class Descriptions Our aim is to promote physical and social development in a Fun and Safe environment. Your childs skills are rapidly evolving and our role at Gym Juniors is to stimulate and test these skills in order to enhance their development. Little Explorers (2-3 yrs) this class is play orientated but will introduce the child to some key physical developmental skills such as: climbing, jumping, hopping, balancing, pushing, pulling, rolling and some basic gymnastics. This class will still involve the childs parent and it will help guide the parent with physical activity play that can be conducted in the home. Jumping Juniors (3-4 yrs) the final stage of development in the pre-school category promotes the childs independence by receiving instructions and performing physical tasks by themselves. They will be working on bigger and more challenging play equipment with progressively more challenging tasks performed throughout the course. Sharing, taking turns and social skills are developed as the children work together during the activities. Kids Yoga (1-2 with parents and 3-4yrs without parents) this is a fun introduction to some basic yoga moves that are delivered through play and music. Young bodies have amazing capabilities and are extremely flexible at this age - we aim to give your children a great foundation by teaching them skills and movements that will assist their physical development as they move up to school age. Little Sport Stars (4-7yrs) - children of this age need to be regularly practising core physical skills such as agility, co-ordination, spatial awareness, core stability, balance and many more. Our programme uses a mixture of activities and games to encourage the progression of these skills and all of the children who complete our courses will receive an award. Indoor Athletics (8-12 yrs) - this class aims to complement and support the indoor athletics programme that is delivered by local schools. Our courses are lead by fitness professionals who will accelerate learning and enhance performance levels for all the key skills of indoor athletics. We will also be using the Indoor Athletics Awards Programme which is recognised and supported by England Athletics as a means to test and demonstrate the progression of the children participating in the course. Boxing (7-11yrs and 8-12 yrs) - boxing is a great sport for developing fitness and expending lots of energy! Our course is a perfect introduction to the sport without being in a formal boxing environment. Skipping, circuit training, correct punching technique and pad work are the main features of this high energy class. Kickboxing (girls only 11-14 yrs) - as participation in sport drops off dramatically in girls of high school age we wanted to give girls of this age a class that is just for them. Similar to the content of our boxing classes with the added advantage of being able to kick! We aim to equip our girls with improved fitness, greater strength, self defence skills and greater self esteem. Teen X Fit (13-14 yrs) - this is a high intensity circuit style class for male and female teenagers. We will primarily be using body weight exercises but will also be introducing some functional training equipment relevant to their age of development.
