Childrens volunteer Carolyn Diamond wrote a heartfelt story about rocking babies in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, and submitted it into a contest by metroMAGAZINE. The winner of the essay contest will receive a $1,000 donation for their organization! I’m not sure who gains the most, the babies or I. Maybe it’s more of a partnership. I do my holding and rocking; they do their healing, then leaving. In my mind, they all go home to loving families who delight in their presence. And in my mind, every one of those homes has a chair that rocks.
