How are you today? I would be grateful if you could support the orphans and the families of the Rana Plaza Tragedy, Bangladesh. Please visit the website Orphans Place. orphansplace/ 3,000 children lost a parent at Rana Plaza. Another 200 were orphaned, and many others now live with a parent who lost a limb and can no longer work, or who struggles to cope with severe trauma. As they continue to wait for Childrens Place to pay its full share of compensation, many of these children have had to leave school and go to work to help put food on the table for their families. Time to #PayUp! orphansplace @orphansplace Thank you for reading and taking action. Regards S FAIR TRADE + FAIR WAGE = FAIR LIFE :) Dear Store Manager: We are here in solidarity with the families of the workers who were killed producing Children’s Place clothing in Bangladesh. As people of conscience and consumers of your products, we ask you to pass this message along to Children’s Place’s corporate offices, and join us – and others across the country – in urging Children’s Place to pay full and fair compensation to the victims of the Rana Plaza building collapse. The April 24, 2013 collapse of Rana Plaza in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which housed a factory supplying Children’s Place clothing, claimed the lives of at least 1,138 workers, making it the deadliest accident in the history of the garment industry. Yet it was an accident that could have been prevented. But because your company failed to uphold its social responsibility commitments, hundreds of families have suffered a tremendous loss and still struggle with the emotional and financial ramifications of this tragedy. Children’s Place profited from the cheap labor of these workers and yet has failed to take sufficient responsibility for this disaster. We urge Children’s Place to immediately pay the full $8 million that your company owes to the Rana Plaza survivors and families. Please let Children’s Place’s corporate office know that we were here today, and that we will continue demanding full compensation to the Rana Plaza victims from Children’s Place. Thank you for your attention on this deeply concerning matter. Sincerely, A fairtrade campaigner in solidarity with the Rana Plaza workers and families.
