Chilean Armed Forces Video: Our Allied partners from Chile sent this note and video to inform us of their Independence Day celebration. Chile celebrates its independence from Spanish Empire on the date the country’s fight for freedom began, Sept. 18, 1810. The country celebrates Army Day the day after its Independence Day. Today in Chile, Día de las Glorias del Ejército (translated as Glories of the Army Day) is a national holiday celebrated every year on Sep 19th, with a military parade in Santiago. A parade where all the branches of the armed forces display some of their troops and equipment. Likewise other smaller parades can be seen in other cities throughout country. These two important dates for our country are part of the Fiestas Patrias (translated as patriotic parties) a time for all Chileans to gather together and celebrate our country, culture and independence.
