Chilling in a hotel room in Hagerstown, Maryland, on day one of - TopicsExpress

Chilling in a hotel room in Hagerstown, Maryland, on day one of our leisurely paced trip to Beaufort, SC. The drive down here, via I-87/I-84/I-81, is a gorgeous one, so much more scenic and less stressful than 95. Except for the parts with miles and miles of patched, potholed, and buckled pavement ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, that is, and the parts with dozens of semis acting idiotic and blocking the passing lane-- so yeah, except for about 80% of the drive, just perfect. Anyway, best part of my day, hands down, was our early dinner at a chain restaurant next door, and it had nothing to do with food. It was my trip to the womens room-- the ladies is at the end of an isolated corridor tucked away in a remote back corner; by most standars it is nicer than youd expect, but dimly lit, with solid wood stall doors muffling and distorting sounds. So there I am, all alone in a 5 stall bathroom, not able to be sure if another person has quietly entered, because the only sound coming through loud and clear is from the PA system. The PA system thats piping in an extended version of the theme from Halloween all the while. Im not easily spooked, but its an experience Im in no rush to repeat.
