Chilly but mostly dry conditions will continue for the Tahoe Basin for the next week, with high temperatures fluctuating between the low 30s and the mid-teens. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep oncoming storms out of the Sierra, sending them north into Canada before they drop south again into the western interior. Temperatures will warm a bit Sunday and Monday ahead of a cold front that is expected to stall in Northern California, around the Cascade-Sierra border. Very light snow showers are possible Monday as the southern edge of the front brushes Tahoe, with snow more likely on Tuesday. But any precipitation either day is likely to be extremely light as there is very little moisture associated with this system. Behind the front on Wednesday temperatures will drop again, with highs likely to be in the low 20s or teens around the Lake, with morning lows in the single digits. The next chance for any real snow will be next weekend, and at this point that is more of a hope than a likelihood.
