China blows up new buildings to make room for newer projects Something is #China is constantly being built, and sometimes they even must take down a newly-built #building to make room for an even newer building. Over the past few years, nearly 700 “#vanity projects” have been stopped in the middle of construction or all together destroyed. China Daily says that this significant number has caused, “great waste and financial losses.” Reasons for the various demolitions range from the simple need for space for newer and bigger projects, to improper building designs and hotel upgrades. For example, a bridge over the G30 expressway’s Sanmenxia section in central China’s Henan Province was dismantled in 2013 to create additional space for a highway. A hotel in Qingdao, in east China’s Shandong Province was destroyed in 2013 due to poor design and improper construction. Chenjiaci, an ancestral temple in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou built for 800 million yuan ($130 million), was torn down after being in use for only four years and replaced by a subway station. In China, nothing lasts forever and a good thing can always be replaced by something better. See a few of the photos of some of China’s “vanity projects”.
