China has released a report that has branded the United States as the world’s biggest human rights violator when it comes to non-Americans. This is according to the Xinhua new agency. The review cited America’s poor record of global surveillance, foreign incarcerations and torture, as well as US secret prisons around the world. The report titled the “Human Rights Record of the United States in 2013” came Friday in response to US’s Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2013 issued by the State Department on Thursday. The Chinese study emphasized a large number of overseas surveillance programs that the US has been running in violation of other countries sovereignty and the civil rights of their people. Last, year, American whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed that the US National Security Agency (NSA) had been monitoring phone conversations of 35 leaders, including those of its purported allies, and gathered some five billion records a day on the whereabouts of cellphones around the world. The report also laid unsanctioned drone attacks at the US door, which killed up to 926 civilians in Pakistan alone as a result of 376 drone strikes since 2004. The US has also been running notorious tortures prisoners in other countries, China said in the report, adding that Guantanamo Bay detainees rights were continuously violated, since many inmates were arrested extra judicially and have been held indefinitely without trial. A total of 92 Guantanamo military prisoners joined in the hunger strike that began in February 2013, to protest indefinite incarceration and bad treatment, such as forced-feeding, the report said. The US government authorized the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to conduct a secret detention program which involved the establishment of clandestine detention facilities on the territory of other states in 2001. At least 136 individuals were reportedly extraordinarily rendered or secretly detained by the CIA. Despite wide criticism against the CIAs illegal action, no American official has so far been brought to justice, the report pointed out.
