China our gorgeous Chow(and pin up girl in the month of April in our Noahs Bark calendar) was adopted into her perfect forever home 18 months ago. China came to us from a breeding establishment and therefore hadnt experienced a home life and all the new exciting things that went with it - but that was to change very quickly with the help of her Mum Edina and her two new found brothers George & Ralph. Life just couldnt be any better for our girl and as Mum Edina says she never stops surprising her with how much love she has in her heart and how she has embraced her new love of freedom - tennis balls - and roast chicken !! China also appears in our Noahs Bark video with her brothers along with other precious poppets that have been adopted through our rescue group( this can be viewed via our website) Here is an update from China herself (with I think a little bit of help from Mum) “China’s Update” Woof everyone! For those who haven’t seen me in the Noah’s Bark short film & calendar, let me share with you a little about my life. I’m China the Chow & I came to Noah’s Bark from a breeding establishment when I was about 8 years old. Matt & Caroline were very specific about the type of forever home they were looking for me to go to. Not only was I a chow, but I hadn’t seen much of the world & it was going to take a very special person to give me a chance to shine. Thanks to Harry & Luna (also Noah’s Bark calendar stars) who helped my mum find me, I have been living in my new home with my brothers George & Ralph for over 18 months now. It’s fair to say, they had me at roast chicken. As soon as I worked out I got roast chicken with dinner every night, there was no way I was going to be anywhere else! It was just going to take me a while to work out that my new family had my back...no matter what. George & Ralph had accepted me into their pack right away (after all, we are colour coordinated), but I was still a bit nervous & shy about what it all meant. I liked to be outside on possum patrol when they were inside sleeping on plush beds. I would refuse to leave the house every time the walking harness & lead came out, but George & Ralph would get super excited about going to this big grassed area where other dogs & humans were. Most of all, whenever people would come to visit the house, I would hide upstairs & only wish I’d had the courage to say hello & get pats like George & Ralph did. Life sure has changed! I now head butt my mum to lift me up so I can sleep on her bed. I can’t wait to get to the park everyday to see all my 4 legged & 2 legged friends & roll around in the grass. My mum has finally worked out that I’m saying “take me to the park” every time I try to talk to her. Now when people come to the house, I greet them at the front window & door & make sure I get lots of pats & a good back scratch before I show them my tennis ball collection. My favourite is the one that’s shaped like a bone. Yep, a bone & a tennis ball combined. I mean, seriously, did someone work out what I was dreaming about & make it real?!?! For me, life is pretty fantastic now. I had never got a chance to play, go for long walks & taste this amazing thing called roast chicken. When my mum met me, she didn’t judge me because of where I came from. She could see I too had a big heart & just wanted someone to give me as much love as I wanted to give them. So, at a time when you might be reading about older breeding dogs trying to find a new home & wondering if it’s the right option for you, think of my amazing journey & how one person has made such a difference to my world... Woof for now China xx
