China show dominance with 3-1 success over Korea Macau, China, August 15, 2014 – China seized a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19) triumph over Korea in Pool I of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Macau Forum on Friday. Key Points · The match became a scoring battle of captains – Korea’s Kim Yeon-Koung topscored with 29 points but her team still lost, as Hui Ruoqi contributed 25 markers to China’s winning cause. · China dominated Korea in blocks 8-2, while Korea topped the service charts against China 6-3. · China had better support on offence as Zhu Ting and Yang Junjing charted 16 points and 13 points, respectively. · China moved to second place in Group 1 standings after this 3-1 win. Korea and China started slowly but it was the former who pulled ahead in the first set with their terrific defence. Korea led 16-12 at the second technical timeout but China rallied to tie the match at 24-all before the Koreans took the final two points to close out the set 26-24. China came out much improved in the second set especially with their service game. The Korean reception struggled throughout, allowing the Chinese to keep the lead throughout the set 25-18. Both teams fought to gain control of the match but Korea got the better of the Chinese squad as they led by a slim margin 8-7 at the first technical timeout. Then Chinese setter Wei Qiuyue left the match with an injury and was replaced by Wang Na, who came off the bench to lead China to a 16-12 advantage. China never looked back and led by at least three points for the remainder of the set 25-22. The Chinese side continued to sizzle with their strong plays in the fourth set. Kim Yeon-Koung completed a huge backcourt kill to bring the team to within the three points late in the set. When Korea got within two points, Zhu Ting responded for China with a massive kill from outside.to restore the three-point lead 25-19.
