Chinar Corps organizes welfare activities for masses Srinagar, Jan 14, CNS: In the run up of 67 th Army Day, a number of welfare activities were conducted under the aegis of Chinar Corps by the Army based at Malangam, Chakigam, Paribal Tekri and Sopore on Wednesday, which included Medical cum Veterinary camps and relief material distribution to the needy Awaam of Sopore and nearby areas In order to provide medical awareness and medical advice to the needy people, the fifth medical cum Veterinary Camp was organized in the run up of Army Day by the Rashtriya Rifles unit based at Malangam, Pribal Tekri and Chakigam alongwith local medical authorities of Health Department.. In a statement to CNS, the aim of the medical cum veterinary camp was to bring medical awareness and treatment of local populace in remote areas of Kiatsan, Shekh Muqam, Belipura, Halmatpura, Alusa, Keema Ghat & Kuyil Muqam. A total of five medical officers from Army including civilian Medical Officer alongwith ancillary staff were involved in the camp. Approximately, 215 Male, 165 Female, and 95 children were provided medical assistance and approximately five hundred livestock including cows, goats and sheep were also treated by the team of veterinarians. An awareness campaign was also conducted at the venue where health and mitigation measures on the issue like hygiene and sanitation, cold weather amelioration measures, communicable / non communicable diseases, water purification and water borne diseases were discussed and the populace was made aware of the preventive measures. In the other occasion the needy awaam of Sopore area was provided with the winter clothing, Blankets and Stoves. People of all age groups and genders have turned up in large number and participated with great enthusiasm and zeal making these events a huge success. The Chinar Corps will organize a series of initiatives and welfare activities for the Awaam all across the valley and will be spread over entire month of January 2015 to honour the gallant soldiers of the army and civilians who made supreme sacrifice for the country, in a run up of 67th Army Day 2015. Meanwhile, Army unit from 14 RR with the help of District Medical Department organized a blood donation camp in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Civilians as well as Army personnel donate their blood on the occasion. (CNS)
