Chippa United can make a difference in our Province only if Mpengesi is willing to work with the universities, SAB league and Vodacom league teams based in the Eastern Cape. I believe the culture of curtain raiser games before Chippa United official games can bring back the soccer spirit that was created by Umtata Bush Bucks in the 1990s. There is a lot of talent in tertiary institution especially Walter Sisulu University in Umtata and Butterworth. Chippa has got an opportunity to utilize that talent for the development of his team. NMMU, Fort Hare and WSU can contribute a lot to the Chilly Boyz and I believe if those institutions can open doors for Chippa we can have the strongest team ever. Allowing Chippa to train around in Eastern Cape based tertiary institutions can bring more support more fans to the stadium during PSL games. Chippa can have a squad made up of these tertiary institutions vs local teams from Vodacom and SAB league and pick up the good players for the future of Chilly Boys. Im sure if that can be practiced we can end up having a strong team full of Eastern Cape born players. Players who will not only play for money but for their province for their parents and for their homes. Have trials at WSU, NMMU, Fort Hare as well as colleges such as Buffalo City, Fort Cox, PE College and Lovedale College. Dont you think it would be nice to watch players from the next door, players from Mtata, Bhofolo, Centane, Idutywa, Qonce etc playing for Chippa United? Just think of the support from our parents going out in numbers to watch oonyana babo playing on National TV. It would be great supporting players whose surnames are familiar, remember the likes of Mongezi Malasha, Sisa Nombe, Mzunani Mgwigwi, Max Banzi and so on... This issue of supporting players from Mpumalanga, Gauteng, KZN and even Zimbabwe in our home land is a sign of undermining our own talent. Eastern Cape is talented but we neglect our own raw talent and take overrated players from other provinces. That is the reason why EC teams always fail in the PSL. We need to use the raw talent that we have so that we can have the next Andile Jalis, Daine Klate, Williams and others. Ignoring and undermining the local talent is killing the talent that we have. Three / four years down the lane we will have one of the strongest teams in the PSL made up of Xhosa names from goalkeeper to the striker, even those on the bench. Proudly #EasternCape born
