‘Chisumbanje employs locals’: Authorities at the Chisumbanje ethanol plant have clarified that the project draws 70 percent of its workforce from Chipinge while 30 percent is the skilled labour that oversees the operation of the ethanol plant. The clarification on the employment of locals comes amid claims by one western-sponsored activist Claris Madhuku of the Platform for Youth Development that the plant has neglected Chipinge residents for employment opportunities. Chisumbanje estate manager Raphael Zuze said the plant employs most of its workforce from the district while the skilled labour is drawn from across the country.
