Chiwoniso to be buried in Manicaland: Tribute to the late Mbira queen Chiwoniso Maraire who died on Wednesday night at the South Medical Centre Hospital in Chitungwiza continue to pour in. The 37 year old daughter of prominent musician and teacher, Dumisani Maraire, died of pneumonia after complaining of chest pains. National Arts Council director Elvas Mari said Chiwoniso was a musician who managed to put the Zimbabwean flag on the international map through her brand of Mbira music at a young age. Burial arrangements are still yet to be finalised as relatives are waiting for the arrival of her daughter Chengeto who is in the United States and other family members who are also abroad. Chiwoniso will be buried this weekend at the family rural home in Chakohwa, Manicaland. She is survived by two daughters, Chiedza and Chengeto, whose father musician Andy Brown died last year. Mourners are gathered at house number 19 Campletown Road, Bluffhill in Harare.
