Chocolate Babka; Celtic Woman, & Pepperidge Farm Bread As many - TopicsExpress

Chocolate Babka; Celtic Woman, & Pepperidge Farm Bread As many of us in the United States embark on a holiday week of Thanksgiving; my eyes fill with joyous tears with regards to the above title. The Celtic Woman CD A New Journey I currently play as I write this to us now, was given to me by someone in my prayers...the gift of music; to be thankful to be able to hear the melodies, the instruments, the sense of closeness with a culture I am sure I am connected to via a past life or two, to me is a true blessing and one I am thankful for. On a different note; as some of you know me, you are aware of my volunteer position every other Saturday whereby I assist an elderly woman obtain her groceries. As I did so yesterday, I was asked to pick up a loaf of chollah bread, known very well in the Jewish community as a bread that is as much a pleasure to look at as it is to eat with its slightly sweet taste and brilliant braiding. While going through the Kosher section of the grocery store, I couldnt help but notice the Chocolate Babka and from it came a waterfall of memories of laughter as well as spirituality for what I saw in my minds eye was that of an amazing memory from the television show Seinfeld and from it, the memory of the passing of the elderly woman who slipped away not to long ago who played the role of the old Jewish woman Seinfeld stole the chocolate Babka from. She too is in my prayers. Once home from assisting with groceries I shared with my love my adventures at the grocery store and how in the process of looking for chollah, I also found Pepperidge Farm Bread, a bread I havent had in over twenty years, since the passing of my grandma who was an amazing cook as well as a school teacher and whom always had Pepperidge Farm Bread, toasted with a smear of butter and a fried egg, sunny side up, placed on top for me...simplistic memories of a child I still hold dear to my heart. Of the countless things I am truly grateful for, although they are all so very important to me; I have noticed over time that sometimes the simplest of things to be thankful for override life and death moments that could have shaped my life in the most difficult of ways and although I am thankful to have been spared from such scenarios, Celtic music, chocolate Babka, and Pepperidge Farm bread override the moment. With that said, today I shall go with my love to purchase the chocolate Babka and white bread made by Pepperidge Farm in memory of those that brought childish and pleasant memories to my life so that my love and I can surround ourselves with the treasures of a light from the past when things were easier, unknown, and enjoyable. Where pulling at my grandmothers cooking apron often meant a smile and a request for assistance in the kitchen, where a television show brought so much laughter to a person throughout there 20s who could understand the world a little better with a giggle and lots of laughter; and where music shared with me from an elderly co-worker who in her despair in her own life, was kind enough to share with me a gift of music that brought her peace in her darkest days. These things, my Brilliant & Beautiful Sisters & Brothers, are what I believe we should be grateful for...those simplest moments that bring about beauty and innocence in a day where ignorance was bliss and the only things we were ever interested in were hugs from grandma, drinking games with friends while watching favorite television shows, and smiles as well as dancing with a co-worker thirty years older than I in an office we no longer share. Let it be known to you that you dont have to be an American to take part in a holiday centered around the idea of being Thankful nor do you need to do it once a year. Instead might I suggest that when you have a pure memory as you find yourself looking at an old record album, getting lost in a supermarket, or stumbling across something that immediately triggers an immediate sense of bliss, that you take it, and for a moment enjoy it in memory of them; those who bond you with such memory, and in memory of yourself. To All Of You My Brilliant & Beautiful Sisters & Brothers Here In The United States & Around The World...To All Of You...Happy Thanksgiving Every Day Of Our Lives... Keep Your Minds Open My Brilliant & Beautiful Sisters & Brothers...To The Possibilities...Blessed Be-
