Chocolate Go ahead, enjoy it, but make sure it’s dark, with at least 70% real cocoa content. The cocoa in it has loads of health benefits; it’s rich in antioxidants, loaded with flavanols (epicathecin) and L-Arginine that improve the health of your endothelium cells lining your blood vessels, dilating them (causing them to release nitric oxide). The fat in dark chocolate is a functional dietary fat which is not harmful and it is lower in sugar than milk chocolate. I also love to add Cacao Nibs to loads of things like shakes, smoothies, pancakes, baking etc. Cacao Nibs are pieces of cocoa bean. They are basically like cocoa powder, but not powdered. They add chocolaty goodness and texture to anything. A great fat source. When baking, I’ll sometimes coat whatever it is I’m making in dark chocolate, using up to 99% cocoa if the thing I’m coating is already sweetened. The sweetness inside offsets the bitterness of the chocolate. This isn’t an excuse to munch any choccy bar you see, milk chocolate simply doesn’t cut it. Make sure it’s pure and dark. Enjoy
