Choir festival at the Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ. The Auditorium is basically the kid brother of the Chautauqua Amphitheater. It was built 2 years after the Amp. and was closely patterned on it. Its on flat ground, by the beach, so they used a smaller footprint and put in a balcony. And they never painted it, just varnished. This gives it an amazing warmth inside. The organ is a 5 manual, 10,000 pipe instrument. Considerably bigger than Chautauquas 5,600 pipe organ, but of course it is an indoor organ, in a climate controlled environment. I have been here a couple of times and it is striking, really pretty amazing, how obvious it is that the two buildings are basically litter mates. Its a wonderful, wonderful place. I only wish the cameraperson had panned left a little to show the rest of the hall.
