Choreography vs. Improvisation? https://youtube/watch?v=VgrNOl-G8VA Do you like what you see? My answer is BOTH! I began my dance career with choreography. Working with and through choreography taught me more about this dance, technique, stage, performance and performing than I ever thought could have been possible. Choreography followed by improvisation training is what gives my performances the heart beat you see when you watch me. Today improvisation is where my heart and soul beat in harmony. All of my Orientale performances are 100% pure improvisation. My fusion pieces (Roxanne, Heavy in Your Arms, Too Close, Broken Sorrow) are 80-100% improvised. This way I give you an authentic and genuine expressions of my heart, life experience and essence of that exact and only moment in time. WHAT? Does that mean I dont choreograph? I do choreograph, and I coach dancers through choreographies, improvisational abilities and presentations. Knowing the pillars behind a good choreography is a huge boon and learning tool for soloists, improv dancers and groups to make the most of their dance/technique/performance/space and presentation! Do your dance and self a favor, learn the how tos, or be coached through the pillars of choreography for improvisation, in order to improve and help all aspects of your dance. Personally I find this to be a HUGE part of abilities that I offer a taste of it in my Soul of Roxanne workshop. Ill also be offering it at the DC intensive. I dont care if you bring a full choreography or just a thought, emotion or blank piece of paper, just do it! If you search me out or go to someone else, be open and wiling to work and be pushed in directions where technique involves more than your hips and arms. Make sure the person you study with has extensive training in large stage, choreography, improvisation, small venues, belly dance technique or other technique or dance forms that you are interested in exploring. Lets work together to raise the bar and level of respect in this dance form. https://youtube/watch?v=rQD9ZECWrro&list=PLqFEc3SVp1iPly9jxFjUGa98royRUZeC4&index=6
