Chris and I were covering call the night he died. One of our crew - TopicsExpress

Chris and I were covering call the night he died. One of our crew members had called in sick. Even though Chris himself wasnt feeling well he refused to pull the rig out of service. So he and I covered call. A short time later when he began to experience difficulty breathing I called 911 for him. Thank God Diane Prill and Jack Byrne along with Chriss uncle James Koroleski showed up. I rode in the back of the ambulance and helped take care of Chris with Diane. We intercepted with the ECHO unit and Kristi got in. I cant talk about the things that happened in the rig and in the ER because its too painful. Not only did I lose my husband that night but I lost my co-worker and boss. We all did. Im in therapy to help deal with the loss of Chris. To say that I, or my co-workers, may not suffer from PTSD is not only ignorant but a tragic assumption that is incorrect. Medics/ EMTs/ Fire fighters and Police Officers see more tragedy than any of you can imagine or even fully grasp. They are expected to be tough and non-emotional. They are looked at as weak or somehow less than their co-workers when they need mental health treatment. Screw that. We are all human and we see things that most of you could never deal with. Give us some respect and remember we can be hurting without showing it.
