Christ Family Devotional Guide by Ps. Bright. Theme: Lift up your eyes onto the cross “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live. So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.” Numb. 21:8-9. It seems the greatest danger or enemy to life is to trust oneself or put one’s hope on human being or something; rather than God. At times, we forget that human beings are mortal and may die. We forget that the money can finish; the cars can be broken; the buildings can be burnt down, the business can collapse and the job can also be taken from us. The people of Israel were angry with Moses and were bitten by the serpents to death because they put all their hopes on Moses instead of God. Their sins made it difficult for them to remember the good work the LORD had done for them. God instructed Moses to make the bronze serpent and hang it on a pole. Whoever looked at it would be saved but still some could not lift up their eyes, so they died. The bronze serpent that was lifted up by Moses symbolised or typified the cross of Jesus Christ. Beloved, it means unless you lift up your eyes onto the cross there is no life. God expects us to put our hope on the finished work of Jesus instead of human being. Grace is what Jesus had already done for you on the cross. On the cross Jesus said, “It is finished!” Jh. 19:30. Jesus has already finished with your needs in the spirit. Faith in Christ will propel His finished work from the spiritual to the physical. The cross means to cancel or deny or crucify yourself or your desires and allow Jesus to take over. Do not die in your situation, when Jesus had already finished with it. Get the revelation of the finished work of Jesus by faith and live. Meditation: Jesus said, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jh. 3:14-15. Declaration: Dear LORD, forgive me (full name), for trusting myself and human beings than You. From today, I hand over all my life and my problems (name them) to you to take over in Jesus Christ name. Amen! Prayer: Daddy LORD, may your grace be sufficient for the above declarer to discover your finished work on the cross in Jesus Christ name. Amen!
