Christ Family Devotional Guide by Ps. Bright. Theme: The Benefit of Hospitality. “Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, “. . . Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.” They said, “Do as you have said.” . . . So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate . . . And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” Gen. 18:2-10. Points of Emphasis: Abraham had the greatest promise from God than anybody on earth, but nothing could bring the promise from the spiritual to the physical except hospitality. Gen. 12:1- It appears somebody could have superb promises or prophesies from God but attitude and action could delay the promise. Abraham was not without blemish, he lied to Pharaoh that Sarah was the sister. Gen. 12:13-19. He also condescended so low for going into the maidservant, Hagar. Gen. 16:2-5. Abraham did few wrong things that possibly delayed the promise, but his hospitality towards those strangers (angels in disguise) had catapulted the promise from the spiritual into the physical. Abraham’s attitude to pay his tithes to the Salem King, Melchizedek (Priest of God), his hospitality towards the nephew Lot, his courage to sacrifice the only son had also opened windows of greater blessings for him. Gen. 14:10-20. In the above scriptures, the strangers did not pronounce the blessings until they were fed and well taken care of, and were about to leave. Elijah blessed the poor widow after he was served. 1Kings 17:8-16. Isaac blessed Jacob after he was served. Gen. 27:17-29. Abraham’s hospitality delivered Lot from destruction in Sodom and Gomorrah. Gen. 18:22-33. Please, be hospitable, especially towards men of God. One day you will receive angels in disguise. Beware! Don’t fall victim to any criminal or fraudster because he carries the Bible. Everybody can carry the bible. Men of God are shepherds not butchers. Meditation: Hear the strangers after they were fed, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” Gen. 18:10. Declaration: Dear LORD, I (full name), I thank You for your promises concerning my life. Help me so that my attitude and my actions will bring the future promise into the now; and from the spiritual into the physical in Jesus Christ name. Amen!!! Prayer: Daddy LORD, may every long awaited promise for the above declarer be brought from the future into the now, in Jesus Christ name. Amen!
