Christ died for us when we were unable to help ourselves. We were living against God, but at just the right time Christ died for us. Very few people will die to save the life of someone else, even if it is for a good person. Someone might be willing to die for an especially good person. But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us. Various Translators (2010-07-02). Holy Bible: Easy-to-Read Version (Kindle Locations 76661-76665). World Bible Translation Center. Kindle Edition. As parents it is very important to tell our children we love them, however there is no time more important than when we are punishing them for misbehavior. The need to be told why they are being punished, they also must be told we love them anyway. When you punish without letting the child know you love them anyway, you make love conditional on good behavior, you give them the message, I only love you when you are good. God has, at time, punished his people, but he always told us we are loved, good, bad, or indifferent we are loved. Paul tells us this in his usual beautiful manner: Christ died for us, even though we were still sinners! What an amazing statement! God loves you, all of us, without condition, he loves us when we are good, he loves us when we are bad. Again, as Paul said, nothing, particularly not our own behavior, can EVER separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
