Christ is King I James Zeigler take no credit for any of this written. King principles- understanding a King 1. The power of kings is displayed in their wealth. a) Kings demands gifts. 2. The purpose of a king’s wealth is to secure their reputation among other kings. a) When a king is wealthy, his wealth is called his glory. Another word for glory is excess. Glory is what you have that is extra, more than what you are, it’s having great overflow of wealth. b) Why does a king need to be wealthy? Because it determines his reputation among all the other kings. 3. The glory of a king is his power to out give other kings. a) A king shows how powerful he is by out giving all the other kings in other provinces. b) When a king hears of other kings, he visits that king and takes him gifts. He takes him gifts that are supposed to make him ashamed. This is why kings are always trying to accumulate more gold, land, property and people. c) The more a king can expand his territory he is revered by the other kings. d) Why did God choose king and kingdom to describe him? God gave Adam dominion over the earth but he did not give Adam ownership over the earth. Adam was given ruler ship but not ownership, why? Because God wants to always show that he has more glory than man. So he says “the earth is the Lords and the fullness there of and the world and they that dwells there in belongs to the Lord. e) The minute man thinks he is somebody more than God. God will then take back the things he has given. When a man try and compete with God he the man will be broken and bankrupt by his pride that has lifted him up, why? Because everything man uses to compete with God, already belongs to God. (Point in question the Beatles a rock group in the sixty were the most popular rock group at the time. Until George Harrison made the statement that the Beatles were more popular than God). f) He (God) owns the kings in the earth as well as the people in the earth and all things that are created by him that are in the earth. So when the kings of the earth begin to think they are king of kings, God takes away their glory. What is their glory? The wealth that God allows them to pretend that they own. g) The house you live in belongs to the Lords and when you begin to think it’s yours, be careful, for God has allowed you to use the building materials to build it. It is God’s to make you look good, why? Because God wants to show his glory, not to other kings but to the invisible Angles. He wants the Devil to see what his children look like, so he gives his children glory and wealth. God told Abraham, I’m going to make you rich, so you can bless the nations and they will know that you belong to me. In other words, I’m going to give you some of my glory so you can look good. *This is very important, the glory of a king is his power to out give other kings.* God is such a King. 4. Giving places a demand on the king’s wealth. When a king would visit another king, he always brought that king great and expensive gifts. So the king that receives the gifts from the king, who has come to visits, has to make sure that king does not out give him. So he gives him greater gifts than what was brought to him by that king who is visiting him. a) For example: when you give a king $10.00, that king has to make sure you leave his presences going back to your kingdom having a clear understanding of who he is. So he does not give you $20.00, no he multiplies it by seven. This is why God says I will bless you seven times more than you gave me, why? Because he does not want us saying to others that he could barely out bless us who gave to him. God will over whelm us with his giving to us when we give from our hearts to him. b) *When you give to a king you have challenged his glory. So when you give you have triggered something that now cannot be stop, the king pouring into you. (Malachi 3: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). c) *A king wants all the other kings to tell all kings about his great wealth and glory. A king wants his subjects and those who know of him to brag about him, how great he is and the glory that he has. 5. Giving to a king requires a response from that king. a) If we give nothing to the king, he is required to give us nothing in return. He the king has nothing to prove, but when we give to the king gifts that cost us much. He multiplies it back to us. b) (Malachi: 3, 10, 11) 10 bring all the tithes into the store house, and prove me now in this, says the Lord of host, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to give fruit for you in the field, says the Lord of hosts. Never give to get. Give because it is the way kings live and the way we honor God by giving him the best gift that we have out of our love for him. 6. Giving to a king in this case God, attracts his wealth to the one who has given freely, honorably and with love for the king which is faith in the king. Giving is not a law. Tithing is a law. We give out of our hearts that is filled with faith in the one who honors our giving. We tithe because of the law, for tithing came by the law. a) God doesn’t give you things for no reason. He says as long as the earth remains there will be seed time and harvest. He, God says we put something in first and He multiplies it. If we eat our seed we have no harvest. So give bountifully to God, plant in great soil. Ask the Holy Spirit were to plant your seeds. b) * Giving start the process, every time there is an emergent need, we must start to give and give more. c) When we do not understand kingdom living and stay in religion we become penny pinchers. d) *If we want to put pressure on our king, Jesus, we must give more from our heart because of who he is. He is the King of king and the Lord of lords the Lord almighty. He is great and wonderful, loving and kind and merciful and gracious. He is Jesus. We bow to him and him alone, Jesus our king who sits on his throne in heaven and on the throne of our hearts who knows him. e) Matthew 2: 1, 2. 1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked where is He who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him. (Magi are kings) Matthew 2: 11 and when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother and fell down and worshiped him. And when they had opened their treasures they presented gifts to him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Seven reason to give to a king 1. It’s called royal protocol, which requires that gifts must be presented when visiting a king. a) The scriptures call Jesus the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Revelation 19: 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 15: 3, 4. 3 and they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! 4 Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For you alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.” Psalm 149. 1 PRAISE (which means Hallelujah) the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the congregation of saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Zechariah 9: 9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. Zephaniah 3: 15 The Lord has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more. John 1: 49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! Revelation 7: 15 Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16 “They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat, 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” And last but not least, for there are so many references of Jesus Kingship, it’s to many to write, but I love this one that I am about to write the most. Exodus 24, 9, 10, 11. 9 Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. (Literarily, Substance of heaven in the New King James version), In the Thompson Chain-Reference Bible verse 10 of Exodus read this way. Exodus 24: 10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were THE BODY OF HEAVEN IN HIS CLEARNESS. They saw the feet of their King, after all heaven is His throne room and the earth is His footstool. The New king James go on to say in verse 11 of Exodus 24. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank. b) Every time the king sees the gift that was given to him, he remembers the one who gave it. c) What have we given to King Jesus that distracts Him, reminding Him of us? We must give gifts that impress Jesus only and in doing so He will impress man who is looking on, watching our lives in Christ. d) * It’s not how much we give to Christ; it is how much what we give cost us personally. When we give it, does it bring Christ in remembrance to us? Are we giving from our hearts? In our giving, if the King does not show up will we die or are we giving out of our extra. The women with the two mites gave all that she had. The women with the issue of blood gave all of her faith and she crawl to her healing and walked away with it. The women who made the cake for the prophet that she was going to make for her and her son and die. She gave all that she had and the King (God) took care of her. The midwives, who delivered the children in Egypt, gave of their faith to Jehovah and did not kill the babies and God the King bless them with homes. The True question, is our lives tied up in the gift that we give? 2. The gift must be fitting for the King; it must honor His ability to out give. a) How much we think of people is registered in the kind of gifts that we give to them. God gave us the best gift Jesus and this is the purpose of Christ. James 1: 17, 18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights (The father of glory), with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Now this is what God gave us a perfect gift, Christ; and this is the reason for Him in verse 18. Of His own will, God’s will, He brought us forth by the word of Truth (Jesus). That we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. Our being born again back into the family of God, our lives being a gift to Him from Christ who now sits on the throne of our hearts. Our becoming as He is, holy. What we give back to Him is our gratitude and all that we possess that originally comes from Him. We give out of our hurts, needs, wants and most of all our love back to God. We give the best, for He gave us the best, Jesus. b) When we give all that we have to the King we now put pressure on Him to out give us and God is such a King that knows the hearts of each individual that comes before Him and He rewards accordingly to our hearts and the actions that are behind them. In Daniel 9: 3 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4 And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments. As Daniel gave himself to God in prayer, supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. God gave Daniel a divine visitation with the answer to his gift of prayer. Daniel 9: 21, 22 yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me. And said, O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. What Daniel gave to God in prayer, and worship with repentance. God out did what Daniel gave with the answer given through the Angel Gabriel. Daniel gift of praying cost him his very life by his being put in the lion’s den only to have God deliver him. 3. The gift that is given to the King reveals your value of Him how much he is worth to you. a) The value that Daniel put on God was shown through the life he lived for God. And his willingness to die for God in keeping God’s commandments and giving God worship. God showed His value of Daniel by raising him up and protecting his life. Daniel was valuable to the King of glory. 4. True worship puts a demand on Heaven. One cannot truly worship the King of glory without giving of his or her substance. For giving shows faith, especially when it is out of a great need. A need that requires the very presence of the King. The King is watching the heart to see the value that is there for Him. He will encourage us but we must release the gift in faith and then after we release it. We must battle the vultures’ that come to try and take away our sacrifice that was made. Fear, doubt, discouragement and unbelief. Abraham had to do such a thing when God cut the covenant with him in Genesis 15: 9, 10, 11, verse 11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away. 5. Giving to the King of Glory attracts His favor. a) God’s favor was on Job. Job 42: 9, 10, 11, 12 Verse 10 And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. (In my margin of the New King James Version. It says, in verse 9 for the Lord had accepted Job. Accepted means literally lifted up the face of Job and in verse 10 restored means. Literary turned the captivity of Job, what was captured from Job. What did Job give to the King of glory? His very life and look at what the King gave him. This is how a King proves His greatness by the gifts He gives, that are much better than the gifts given to Him. Not only did the King of glory bless Job with friends, family and wealth, but Job is also in heaven so he has eternal life with Christ because Christ went into hell and lead captivity captive when He ascended into heaven. 6. Giving to the King of Glory acknowledges His ownership of everything. a) * Psalm 24. 1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And lift them up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the king of glory. Selah b) God is saying, you praise me, you worship me and you give to me from your hearts and nothing will prevent Me from entering into your pressing situations. Nothing has the ability to stop Me from showing up and saying peace be still. I am the one who calms the storms that life bring against those who love Me to destroy them. I am the one who deliverers and set free. Who blesses and lifts up but I test the hearts of my people those who say they love me, for only through being test can you know what is hidden inside your hearts. And I am the great revealer, for I am light and there is no darkness in Me. c) When God ask us to give He is checking to see if we believe that He is rightful owner of all. In Genesis 22: 12 And he said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” So the King of glory stopped Abraham’s gift by giving us His Son, Jesus. In Genesis 14 Abraham wins a great battle delivering the captive of Sodom and his nephew Lot from the Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him. The priest of God, Melchizedek comes on the scene and Abraham gives him a tenth of the spoils, and he gives to those who were with him in defeating the kings their portion. When the king of Sodom tries to bless Abraham, he refuses because Abraham’s faith is in God. I stated this to show this one thing. Genesis 15: 1, After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” God is a great and mighty King. We must learn to release the things we have and trust God that He is the one who gives the wealth of the wicked to the righteous. But we cannot put the cart before the horse. I will pick up on this latter. 7. Giving to a King is thanksgiving. a) When the King of glory is pleased with you He will manifest Himself to you, why? Because of holiness, be you holy for I God, am holy. I spoke of the vultures trying to come and still our sacrifices before God. When we put all that we have on the altar of God and our very lives depend on God responding to us. We will fight the good fight of faith. We will battle and defeat with the Holy Spirits help, fear, doubt, discouragement and unbelief. Now getting back to putting the cart before the horse. None of this will work for us if we are not dealt with properly by the Holy Spirit of God. If we are not dying to self, changing for Christ becoming humble in every area of our lives. If the word of God is not becoming alive within us. And if we have not gone through the wilderness of trails and testing. Our hearts will remain darken and all the confessing and proclaiming and giving will be of no avail. I understand we are all in different places in the Lord, but the Lord should be in those many different places with us encouraging us to move forward in Him in truth. Sin is a weapon that Satan uses to stop us from entering into the holiness of God but forgiveness is the shield that keeps us moving forward in Christ. The King is forgiving, so we must become forgiving as well. The King is love, we must become love. Holiness is the presence of God upon our lives revealed, however God chooses to reveal Himself in us. We must be willing to change in the inner man. Our creativity comes from heaven it should have a different flavor on it than that which is in the world. Humility is the best way but if God has not dealt with us we will not be humble. I cannot take full credit for this which I have written, for I receive much of this message from Dr. Myles Munroe Understanding the Principle of Giving to a King and I am grateful to God for allowing me to hear his servant message. But God has allowed me to add some things in here that came from His Holy Spirit. I hope all of it blesses the reader. Remember everything is to be checked through praying and searching of God’s word. James Zeigler October 25, 2014
