Christian Friends of Israel - Jerusalem Wall of Prayer September 2013 / Jewish Year 5773 Update No. 15 “And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he divided their Land to them by lot” (Acts 13:19). The Land of Israel is still in dispute, at least among the nations of the world. Our cry is: “How long Lord, how long?” God is a merciful God and gives everyone ample opportunity to turn to Him before He judges them. A most wonderful report tells us that some Christian Arabs in Nazareth Ilit, Israel, have decided to stand with Israel for their Land and want to become full citizens with them. Let us pray for them as well as for Tekoa and Gush Etzion block, which need our prayers as the nations put the citizens in danger of losing that which God has given as a possession to Israel. Tekoa, Gush Etzion, Israel “Tekoa is an Israeli Jewish communal settlement and Israeli settlement in the northern Judean hills in the “West Bank.” Tekoa is within the municipal jurisdiction of the Gush Etzion Regional Council. According to the Book of Samuel, Joab procured a “wise woman” from Tekoa to induce David to bring Absalom back to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 14:2,4,9). The village was the birthplace of Ira, the son of Ikkesh, one of King David’s warriors. Tekoa is renowned for being the birthplace of the prophet, Amos. The Bible states that the city was founded by Ephrathites from Bethlehem in the north and Calebites from Hebron in the south. It was a fortified city and served as an administrative center. It was established in 1975 as a Nahal outpost. In 1977 it was handed over to civilian residents. The settlement is located on the top of a hill among ruins of the site of Jewish Tekoa, 5 miles south of Bethlehem at the foot of the Herodian (Herod’s Fortress). It is located 2,177 feet (670 meters) above sea level on a ridge surrounded on three sides by a deep canyon, Nahal Tekoa, that runs east to the Dead Sea. Tekoa is populated by a mix of religious Zionists and secular Israelis. Many new immigrants from the former Soviet Union also live in Tekoa.” (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). For those on the CFI Wall of Prayer teams around the world, let us go to the prayer room for this beloved city which has been established by the Hand of God. • Cry unto the Lord to save the Land which He has so wholeheartedly tilled and sown, through His People since 1948. May the inhabitants of Tekoa and Gush Etzion bloc, in times of trial and trouble, call upon His Name. May they not be afraid, but believe. “I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and He gave ear unto me. In the day of trouble I sought the Lord...” (Psalm 77:1,2). • Pray for the Prime Minister of Israel not to compromise the Land of Israel and to be tough--to stand strong on the Word of God which he knows in his heart. “Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son” (Psalm 72:1). • Intercede for the citizens of Tekoa and Gush Etzion bloc that they will continue to build as the Lord has commanded them and to expand, not diminish, their established communities. May they possess the Land as God commanded them to do and give them a spirit of courage and fortitude to stand strong to retain it. “For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. The seed also of his servants shall inherit it...” (Psalm 69:35, 36). • Beseech the Lord for the soldiers of Israel that fight in the IDF as a DEFENSE army not an invading one. May their power and might be in God and may they realize this and not go into battle to save the Land without calling upon His Name. “I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only” (Psalm 71:16). • Call Upon God to give more wisdom and discernment to those in the Knesset and government offices as well as the armed forces of Israel, in order for them to be like the men of Issachar who knew about the times in which they lived and had the wisdom to know what to do. (1 Chronicles 12:32). • Intercede for the mighty men of war who help to win the battles Israel faces daily on the home front, to protect its citizens and people in their communities and land. While we sleep in quiet and safety, there are Israeli soldiers up all night defending and guarding the borders from north to south and east to west. “...men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains” (1 Chronicles 12:8). May the Lord bless all on the Wall of Prayer. Let us hear from those who might have a word from the Lord or scripture to share. We pray that you will distribute this prayer bulletin to those who will pray for Israel, the Land and People each month. Let us mobilize our forces for strength in the spiritual realm of prevailing prayer for Israel.
