Christian Progress!! Sunday Non-eco posting.... 8-) It is only fair having criticised some religious sects here for their contribution to many of the worlds problems, including sectarian wars, homophobic murders/persecution and trashing the rights of women in so many ways, that I acknowledge when some of them take some positive steps. So three cheers today for: 1/ The Church of England appointing Libby Lane as its first female bishop. 2/ Whilst he still promotes medieval homophobia, (salon/2013/03/14/pope_francis_on_gay_rights_his_5_worst_quotes/) it was good to see Francesco Jorge Bergoglio, head of the Catholic Church take a small positive step by saying Who am I to judge?, which is a bit more in line with what I understand as true Christianity, which says that those without guilt throw the first stone. It really is time for millions of Christians around the world to stop throwing stones at gay people. 3/ Good to see also Bergoglio working to create peace between nations with his recent successful diplomacy between the US and Cuba. Makes up in a very very tiny way for the awful sectarianism unleashed on the world by the two Christian crusaders Bush and Blair.
