Christianity cannot be comprehended from the perspective of religion; in fact it may help understanding if you throw out the ity. Jesus said, I AM the way, truth,and life. No man comes to the Father except thru Me. The Faith (again, its not an ity) is a matter of knowing Him and knowing that He knows you. Its like any other relationship, except Hes invisible. You need faith. Theres an intangible quality to faith. Unless youre an electrician, you really dont know why the lights go on when you flip the switch, but you have faith that they will. The Bible says that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. When you receive the Gift of Faith, its not in a religion; its faith in Jesus-His life, death,and resurrection. Something in your gut tells you that there must be a God, so you already have a measure of faith. God wont trick you. When you humbly ask for the gift of Faith in Jesus, He will give it to you. You already feel bad about some of your thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions. Relationships also require honesty. God wants you to be free from guilt, so He requires that you be willing to turn away from wrong-doing. Heres how to begin a relationship with God: you tell Him that youre willing to let Him help you turn away from those thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions that you know are wrong. Ask for the gift of faith to believe in Jesus. Just as you are, humbly give Him your life. John 3:16 is the most famous verse in the Bible. Jesus says, For God so loved the world (that includes you :>) that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus) that whoever (Yep, youre a whoever) believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life. So, you receive the gift of faith, and you also receive Gods help to live abundant life free from guilt and eternal life. Do those who have a relationship with Jesus still think, say, and do wrong things? Sure we do. Thats why we need a Savior. Theres a short passage in a little letter in the back of the Bible that tells us how to live and maintain our right standing with God. If you dont have a Bible, google 1 John 1:5-2:2.
