Christians from Ancient Egypt and Ethiopia carried christianity to other parts of Africa long before the arrival of the Europeans. In deed, baby Jesus first learned to walk on the African soil in Mizraim (Egypt). Not on European soil. The Ethiopian, Queen Candaces economic advisor, knew how to read fluently before anyone in England could even spell (Acts 8:26-40). When the message of Isaiah chapter 53 that he (an Ethiopian) read was explained to him by phillip, so thrilled him that he went on his way rejoicing, telling everybody just as the Lord Jesus when he rose from the dead command his disciple to do- Go into all the world and tell them... Tell them what? That people should now abondon their traditional attire? Wear a dog coller before they preach Jesus? Part their hair on the left or right? Consider their mother taung inferior? No! What the risen Savior commanded was that those who were eye witnesses to what happened in Jerusalem and were transformed by believing in what they saw and heard, namely that he Jesus had come to pay the price of sin so that (as he told Nicodimus in John 3:16) whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The proof that God accepted Mission Accomplished was that He raised Jesus from the dead! Problems do arise in three ways:(i) When carriers of this message assume an air of superiority, looking down on the heathens; (ii) when the messagers are counterfiet Christians with exploitative agenda ( vide the slave trade);(iii) when it is thought wrongly that the UK for instance is a Christian country- an impossible situation- because whosoever mentioned in the word of God refers not to countries but to individuals. Offensive message, admittedly to some; but great message to others!
