Christmas Memories . When Madame Alexander Doll Co. Introduced a figure doll with feet that only wore high heels in 1955, every little girl wanted a high heeled doll. Jerry & I got ours Christmas, 1957. Mine was the 21 MA Cissy. Dressed in the blue skirt & blouse shown. Jerry got a Revlon Doll, with rooted Saran hair that lasted like the Hebrew Childrens clothing, a white fur stole , and diamond earrings and necklace. We loved them and had so much fun playing with them. They were the precursor to todays Barbie, which is smaller and easier to manage. In the constant debate about perfect figure dolls making little girls feel badly about their bodies; I have to say: didnt happen. They were just our grown up selves, our movie star selves etc. In the 50s, little girls wanted to be movie stars instead of princesses., anyway, I am sure it was a financial stretch for our parents to give us top of the line dolls such as those. There were less expensive knock offs. Mother told me later that they bought them at Timberlakes Hardware in Texarkana . I later bought Georgianas dolls there. But we really enjoyed & loved those dolls.
