Christmas, a day when emotions can run rampant. It started when I read on facebook that David, Cathies uncle had gone to sing with Jesus during festivities last night, Christmas Eve. David was Bobs last living sibling. I feel sorrow for Cathies Aunt, Hazel, Davids wife. I think and hope she has a great support group surrounding her at this moment. I met them both in 2007, at Cathies Mothers funeral, yet through Facebook, I have grown to care for her and I always appreciate Hazels replies to my posts and her continued support for Cathies illnesses and my endeavors. Having our Christmas celebratory lunch at Cathies sister Carries house, we decided to wait to tell Bob until after lunch, after presents and after he was home safe and sound. Carrie and Cathie followed him home with food and his presents, then went inside and informed him of his brothers passing. (Hazel had lost her phone with all her contacts, therefore Bob did not get a call from her or his nieces. Carrie called her while at Bobs house.) I walked the short distance home, leaving Cathie with the car, knowing she would stay a little while with her father. After a few chores I turned on TCM to Little Women. I was instantly captivated. One sister, (you probably know the story,) passed away, after a long bout with scarlet fever, in a heart-rendered way. Then another sister, played by Katharine Hepburn, well it seemed she was going to be all alone for the rest of her life. The three remaining sisters reunited with their Mom. The Professor showed up, after a bit of confusion, he and Katherine finally realized they loved each other, of course he had known for some time. That is when tears started to flow once again, my throat constricted, it hurt. Tears arent easy. It hurts to even type this. Will I be alright, of course, that is what we do in this life, we go on. The tremendous sadness will pass, life will look wonderful again, we go on.... we send prayer and love to our suddenly-lost relative. And to all those out there who are going through the same, or are in pain, or are in remembrance of a lost loved one. Merry Christmas and may God watch over us all tonight.
