Christmas countdown sock number 15 – The Barge Boys, now known - TopicsExpress

Christmas countdown sock number 15 – The Barge Boys, now known as Max and Bentley. These two brothers came to us In the summer from a pound. They’d been handed to the local warden in by a good man who had seen them being abused by a group of youths on a canal towpath. He ‘bought’ them for £50 and did his best for a while to care for them on his barge. But with 4 dogs of his own it was a struggle. They were only about 7 months old and such a handsome pair. Because they knew that there were no owners to claim them, the brilliant ‘pound pullers’ at Animal Lifeline got to work straight away on their behalf, contacting rescue groups, posting them online and networking like mad to try to find a rescue space for them. When we said we could help, they then went on to organise their network of volunteer transporters to fetch them from the pound and drive them to us and to safety. Poundpullers like Animal Lifeline do amazing work - they are the crucial link between death row dogs and rescue. So many dogs would have no chance of survival without them. Thanks to them both boys have now lovely new lives. Max was adopted first – he now lives with Sian and Rob and his sister Luna the collie cross. He goes to DOGSKOOL and is flourishing in the obedience class. Bentley took little longer to find his niche, as he gets anxious when left alone so needed a home with someone around most of the time. He’s found it now though, with Jackie, her daughter and two other dogs in Cheadle. So, thanks to Animal Lifeline for enabling us to help, and to the people who’ve given these two young lads the chance of long and happy lives.
