Christmas is a time to receive forgiveness. Luke 2:11 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need on earth had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an accountant. If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer. But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior.” How can we partake of His provision as our Savior? In one word, surrender. Lifeguards are taught in ocean rescue to pause as you approach a drowning person who is panicking. The reason is to allow the person to run down before you approach them so that they don’t drown you. It’s the same with our savior. He stands ready to rescue us once we stop trying to save ourselves. Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world, but to save it. Christmas isn’t to remind us of our guilt, our shame, our mistakes, or our wrongs, but to deliver us from the very penalty of sin. Matt 1:21 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
