Christmas survives... Land breeze swirl dry leaves through dusty roads and gravel courtyards as a harbinger of Christmas in Kerala. Lips go dry and heels crack. It’s cold but not enough to wear winter clothes. That’s the closest you can get to a Kerala winter. Coloured paper star lanterns go up every mango tree or guava tree, or seen hanging from the roof top lamps. Carols break the silent holiday nights and tins of Christmas snacks line the kitchen shelves that are ant-proof. One more Christmas ended. This year, like the last few years, the land breeze still hadn’t come. The namesake winter grew even milder leaving the lips and toes confused. Carols blared and shouted Yo Yo Honey Singh - a new breed of Carol singers and dancers popped up with oats tin collection boxes. Christmas snacks line up bakery shelves, as those hands that prepared and filled tins and tins of snacks are wrinkled and alone. Christmas still survives and will always remain close to hearts - as neither memories wrinkle nor its spirit is spoiled just because Smriti Irani is confused with a former PMs birthday.
