Christmas trees; good or bad? The celebration of Christ Jesus - TopicsExpress

Christmas trees; good or bad? The celebration of Christ Jesus birth has under gone many changes and variations as the story of our Savior’s birth has made its way to different cultures. Some believe that decorating a tree comes from false religions that use to worship certain trees. That is not totally unreasonable to consider. Pagans did use to worship trees. (Jeremiah 10:1-4). While I have to admit, those verses are frighteningly similar to what we know as a Christmas tree to be, they are quite condemning. Personally, I have come to not like Christmas tress upon learning this. Nevertheless, it is a long tradition in our family to have a Christmas tree and my family really likes decorating for Christmas. We do not in any way shape pr form worship the tree or make any kind of idol of it. It boils down to a person’s personnel convictions. If it seems evil then don’t do it. As for someone saying if you do it then you’re not saved, is simply foolish. As long as it is Jesus Christ you worship, and you’re trusting in His finished work on the cross for your salvation you’re saved and sealed forever. At our home we make Christmas all about Christ. Our tree is a cymbal of the cross: 1Peter 2:24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. The star at the top of the tree is symbolic of the star that the wise men followed in Matthew 2. Or if you prefer and angel on top, it is symbolic of the angel that declared unto the Shepherds that Christ was born. (Luke 2) The giving of presents is symbolic of Gods grace. Grace is undeserved favor. Such as with our children, they don’t deserve a gift. They have not been good all year. (lol) Yet we over look that in love and offer them a gift anyway. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Praise God He did! On the day of Christs birth there was no room found for Him. Little has changed. Will there be room for Christ in your home this Christmas? Or will Santa, Reindeer, store bought gifts and decorations void of meaning fill your homes and hearts to the point of No Vacancy?
