Christmas visit to “The Nest” Ambassador Andreas Peschke paid a Christmas visit to the children’s home “The Nest” in Limuru. The Embassy supported the project with some urgently needed sanitary renovations in the boys’ dormitory which were officially opened during the visit. The Nest” childrens home provides care for children whose mothers are imprisoned. It is located in Limuru, about 20 km northwest of Nairobi. The children not only receive care and shelter but also formal education during the time their mothers serve prison sentences. “The Nest” is also home to babies and children who have been abandoned by their parents. Thanks to the initiative and engagement of some colleagues who have been supporting “The Nest”, the Embassy was able to identify the need for some urgent repair and provide the necessary funds to renew the water and sanitation complex in the boys’ dormitory.
