Christmastide is a season to travel through a mystery almost too deep for words. That the Word of God became flesh is a powerful thing to contemplate. Here, in a lonely and lowly stable, a child is born in whom the whole power and glory of God is made tender, vulnerable flesh. And this begins the life that sanctifies all things, indeed all of reality, and overcomes all of our human failings. Imagine, a tender newborn has already transformed all created flesh into something directly and immediately God-touched. What a treasure in a trough of straw! Happy fourth day of Christmas.
