Christmastime, more than other seasons, encourages my fellow - TopicsExpress

Christmastime, more than other seasons, encourages my fellow Christians to both become and behave more Christlike, but people should strive toward this ideal not just one month per year but every month. In fact, every day normally brings us new opportunities to render the world around us a better place, especially if we pray to notice such opportunities, remain vigilant for them, or even actively seek them out. And I think that its a good personal policy to strive to render not only everything but also (especially) everyone that we encounter at least as good as they would have been otherwise, whether spiritually (which is most important) or temporally, if we have any impact at all. If I understand correctly, this is all part of learning to love/serve God with all our souls, and our neighbors as ourselves. If everyone that we encounter is helped by Gods influence through us in the right manner to be more humble, more loving, better-educated, better-informed, more truthful, more righteous, more Christlike, more merciful, more happy, et cetera, then weve arguably done well in some respects. In some cases, we might be able to draw upon our resources, whether our faith or our intellect or our strength or our wealth or our friends, to help people in substantial ways. In others cases, we may be able to offer little more than a warm smile or a kind word or a witty quip---but thats valuable, too. In any case, its good to strive to leave a trail of goodness wherever we go, even if its rather inconspicuous in most cases, to mark our passage. If were not already living up to this ideal, then theres no time like the present to commit (or recommit) ourselves to doing so, to ponder how we might do better at it, and to humbly seek Gods help in doing so. How can you better live your life so that God may bless others through you? Heres a lovely video from GiveBackFilms in which charitable volunteers provide a wonderful Christmas surprise for a deserving family.
