Chronicles of Charlie part 9. I had to wait for todays results to post. Last year on July 31st, Chuck had his cancer surgery. He has technically survived for a year so far, even though he didnt finish chemo until January. Chuck has developed a slight cough over the past few weeks and over this past camping weekend he either got dehydrated or ate something plant-poison related and got pretty sick for about a day. It was like he was poisoned or coming out of anesthetic. He has rebounded very well over the past couple days. Chuck went to the vet today and got checked out. Chest x-rays recommended and done. The vet could not clear them as she was a sub for our regular vet who is on vacation. She suggested that we take them to Madison for comparison against his last set. I called Madison and spoke to the oncology resident and she agreed that we should compare the x-rays. Upon review, she gave an explanation for each area in question and smiled telling me that the x-rays were great, no signs of cancer. Just some vessels and some signs of aging. I happily left and called my wife, Maureen, to tell her the good news. At that point I was overcome with emotion and literally could not speak for several minutes. I had been sure that we were back on the on ramp to the shit highway that has been Chucks physical health. But it wasnt to be. We get to keep him around for awhile longer and enjoy the gift that he continues to be. Tears of happiness today.
