Chunk! No Captain Chunk! Something For Nothing (Reissue) Fearless Records (c)2011 If you arent familiar with Easycore/metalcore or pop punk scenes, then you would probably only know this name--or phrase raher--because of the movie, The Goonies; but it is also a band thats blowing up around the USA lately. Their first full length reissued/rereleased through Fearless Records in 2011, was what got them recognition in the US. With the single In Friends We Trust kick starting the explosion of energy fueled French easycore debut: Something For Nothing. The album starts with a very heavy song entitled Bprn For Adversity which contains mostly screamed vocals and a heavenly breakdown with singer, Bert morphing his clean vocals into screamed vocals, repeating This is how we break out parasites. The album unfolds into a mix of energetic pop punk styled songs and easycore styled songs with (newage) metalcore styled breakdowns and screams. The album contains a few memorable tracks including: Captain Blood; a fast paced, easycore song that has a little bit of everything in it. Also holding: Positiv-O, Make Them Believe, For All We Know, and Times Up. The album starts the beginning of an end with the acoustic-started friend ballad For All We Know which develops into a intricate break down with gang vocals shouting the chorus. The album ends with XoXo a song that is a rgeat ending that has a little of style of music they used throughout the 42 minutes of the album. All in all, Something For Nothing is a very great record, from a somewhat underrated band. It holds a variety of great tracks and few throwaway tracks. Ratings: Vocals: 3/5 Instrumentation: 4/5 Lyrics: 4/5 Rounded up 4.5/5 -Z
