Church Family, I have been serving on the board of our local Addiction Recovery Ministry since its inception. This ministry came out of our local Ministerial Alliance and Pastors of Prayer organizations in an attempt to deal with the issues of poverty and addiction in our city. The ministry functions on a shoe string budget by an all-volunteer staff. The ministry has grown over the past several years to include over 20 different small group meetings to include a Bible-based addiction recovery program, anger management, image enhancement, life recovery, co-dependency, and parenting just to name a few. Our local police department, sheriff department, probation office, county and district courts are all now recommending and in some cases making these classes mandatory as part of some individuals probation requirements. We have recently received requests from out of our county and state desiring to send people to ARM for addiction recovery. Indian Creek has been supporting ARM $75 per month through our mission’s budget for several years now. A couple of years ago ARM was able to purchase a men’s facility to assist in addiction recovery by providing a place to live for up to a year as long as they play by the rules, attend mandatory classes, and aggressively look for employment. We are currently trying to purchase a women and children’s facility as well. Approximately $60,000 has been raised towards the purchase price of $110,000. Our hopes are to have an open house sometime this fall.In order to meet our goal the remaining $50,000 and an additional $20,000 for improvements need to be raised by the end of the summer. Members of the Addiction Recovery Staff and individuals who have benefited from its ministry will be at ICBC on July 14 to give testimony of the difference this ministry has made in their lives. A one-time love offering will be taken on this day in an effort to help meet the goal. I encourage you to pray and consider giving generously to this effort. 1 Corinthians 16:1-4 Pastor Guy
