Church Fast - Day 8 Megan Geist James 1:6 NLT “But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” On this 8th day, you have been fasting for a week- you’re in it. You have laid out some requests before the Lord, you are journaling, you are praying, you are...waiting….and waiting. But in the middle of all this, I ask you - have you decided not to waver? Have you decided to leave no room for doubt, fear, and weakness? Sometimes as the days go by, we find the temptation to toss back and forth without really acknowledging that we are to wait expectantly for the Lord to speak, or without really committing to go without. I am learning that planting your feet, agreeing with the Lord in advance, and declaring parameters of victory are equally important as the battle itself. In James 1:6, to be “unsettled as a wave of the sea” means to be thrown about, but not only that - consider the mess a wave makes when it crashed into the shore. God asks us to be firm, steadfast and to not waffle back and forth. I encourage you to spend some time in prayer today and examine your heart. Take a few minutes to fill up all the space in your heart with hope and confidence. Together lets not allow fear to hide out in the corners of our heart.
