Church & State go hand in hand: Serb President Tomislav Nikolic, a former political ally of ultra nationalist Vojislav Seselj, admits he often meets with SPC Patriach Irinej. Weve said before that in the Balkans the Church is one of pillars of the nation-state. And the Church is used by the state for pushing policies or agendas it wishes not to do so publicly for tactical reasons. Its giving with one hand, and taking with other hand ! So what this means for neighbouring Macedonia, is that officially the Republic of Serbia recognises Macedonia but secretly uses the Serbian Orthodox Church, which does not recognise the Macedonian Church, to destabilise Macedonia by sponsoringa rebel Bishop John (Jovan) aka Zoran Vraniskovski. Its a clever way to blackmail Macedonia and one of the oldest tricks inherited from Yugoslav communist times when priests were pressured into becoming informers, namely the infamous pedophile Serb Bishop Vasilije Kacavenda, recently forced into retirement. -------- BELGRADE -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met with Serbian Patriarch Irinej on Thursday to discuss his proposal for a final settlement for Kosovo. Nikolic, who often meets with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), said that his platform, which was recently announced, will go in the direction of what Serbia can accept as a final solution, without threatening its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
