(1 Cor12:22) Paul uses the human body as a metaphor. Those parts that don’t receive public recognition—the private, covered parts and especially the internal organs—are nonetheless needed for the entire body’s health. Likewise, the church needs all its members. Teachers, for instance, may be publicly recognized, but without the work of the janitor, the church would become filthy and all the members would be affected. The stronger parts, Paul insists, shouldn’t belittle or overlook the weaker parts.
